Portland Theater Sign --The Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall

This is my second historic neon sign so far The original sign "Portland" was built in 1928..In 1930 the theater went under contract with Paramount to show pictures (They weren't called movies back in those days)...It was then the sign had changed  to "Paramount"  Then in 1972 they also were having concerts at the Hall ..By 1984 they removed the sign once again and it was used as a "model" by the Ballard Signs Co. of Salem for a replica to restore the 1928 original wording "Portland"..The sign is 65 feet tall  with each letter being 5 feet tall and has over 6,000 lights ..That is why I choose to paint 2 canvas boards to represent this historic sign and each are a 9x12 and is beautiful when framed and stacked...The 3rd picture here is of both.paintings together  .Saving the originals for a show for now ...Prints are $25 ea.
